Hi there,

Can anyone help:

I have an PBX extension that is an Auto Attendant and a VOIP number pointing to it. I would like this extension to allow the caller to hear 2 or 3 rings before it answers it with Auto attendant message.

Is this possible, if so - how do I achieve this?

Regards - Colin

Colin,

That is very common. A usa ring takes about 5 seconds so for three rings you need to set your ringer time to 15 seconds.

Then put your %ivrxxx(xxx needs to be replaced with your user number) in the forwarding destination (no answer) and forwarding destination (busy) fields. Make sure it is not in the forwarding destinations* field.

Hi Nick,
I donot think that works for Auto Attendant. when you call Auto Attendant, Auto Attendant message was answered immediately and you cannot hear any rings.

Hi Nick & Jelly,

I was just about to post the message below - when I saw Jelly's reply - any ideas?

Thanks for your reply - but I had already tried that!!!

Can I confirm that I understand your reply:

My extension (150) - Auto Attendant or just a Normal Extension (I have tried both)

Call forwarding settings

Forwarding destination* "Blank"
Ringer timer (sec) "15"
Forwarding destination (no answer) "%ivr150"
Forwarding destination (busy) "%ivr150"

When I call extension 150 either directly or the VOIP number that is pointed at this extension, all I get is engaged!!!

By the way Nick - did you see my reply post - http://www.brekeke-sip.com/bbs/viewtopic.php?t=5355 (Last Post) - <BRIG GRIN>

Hi,

If it goes directly to auto attendant then set up user 151 as auto attendant and go there from 150 after 3 rings. If you turn off ivr does 150 ring ok on the phone the way you have it set up now?

Hi there,

Could not get it to work, so - I made a .wav file with 2 rings before the auto attendant voice starts.

Sounds good.

Many thanks - Colin
